The Ewing’s Sarcoma Research Trust is delighted that Duncan Pow, star of Holby City and Dream Team, has kindly agreed to become our first celebrity supporter!
Duncan said the following:
“I met Matt through the work I do for CLIC Sargent. I will never forget listening to him talk about his experience of Ewing’s Sarcoma and the impact it had had on his life. I was blown away by his eloquence and just how inspiring a young role model he was not just to myself, but to the whole room; they were captivated. I have kept in touch with Matt since that meeting and when he first told me of the charity he was setting up I told him if there was anything I could do to help then to call me.
Not only has Matt battled two bouts of cancer, he also finished his A-levels, completed his law degree and set up this charity since his first diagnosis.
Ewing’s Sarcoma is a rare and frightening form of cancer, but it is treatable. It is a shocking statistic that survival rates have not improved in the last thirty years, and this charity aims to find ways to remedy that.
With someone like Matt at the helm, I am humbled to be involved and really feel that Matt’s experiences, coupled with his great desire to improve the lives of fellow sufferers through his charity is a combination that can change the lives and survival rates of young people with Ewing’s Sarcoma.”
Duncan was kind enough to join us at the launch of our fundraising efforts, the Dragon Boat Festival at Bewl Water on the 17th and 18th September, coming down to cheer on the efforts of all the participants.
